NEW FAMILY OF CEREAL FUNGICIDES FROM BAYER CROPSCIENCE
- Powerful Tools in the Management of Resistance -

Bayer CropScience is introducing three new protective and curative cereal fungicides in Ireland - Proline, Prosaro and Fandango. The new family of advanced cereal fungicides is supported by extensive research, including comprehensive Irish trials. Given increasing concerns about septoria resistance to strobilurins, the new Bayer range provides the best possible resistance management options for Irish growers. Their launch means that Bayer CropScience can offer a complete range of cost effective solutions to wheat and barley growers, for the broadest treatment and protection of crops against key diseases.

Proline, the first of the three new products to receive Irish clearance, is the next generation triazole - a new dimension DMI. It will give cereal growers flexibility in the choice and rate of tank-mix partner and optimal spray programmes for reliable yield response. Proline has been demonstrated to offer those physiological yield enhancing effects associated with strobilurins - extending to rapid uptake, rain-stability and long lasting control of all of the major leaf diseases.

Proline offers an extremely broad spectrum of activity, proven to be effective against the hidden stem base disease complex; as well as being highly efficient against stem and foliar diseases ranging from Eyespot and Septoria to Fusarium. Proline is also effective against major barley diseases such as Rhynchosporium and Net Blotch.

Prosaro - the second of the new products to get Irish clearance, combines the strength of two top class DMI (azole) fungicides in one product. It is an excellent partner for fungicides such as strobilurins and offers strong performance, yield quality and excellent cost benefit ratios. Prosaro also offers broad spectrum activity with complete control of leaf and ear diseases. It sets new standards for Fusarium control and is particularly powerful in the control of rust and other diseases in wheat.

A Major Breakthrough in Cereal Fungicide Technology
- All You Need In One Fungicide -

Fandango represents a major breakthrough in cereal fungicide technology, combining the advantages of a new leaf-systemic strobilurin (Fluoxastrobin) with the qualities of a new dimension DMI fungicide (Prothioconazole) in, quite literally, a custom built fungicide.

Fandango is more than just the combination of two new molecules. The two modes of action, each top of its own class, are designed to fit together in a complimentary and tailored combination. This balanced formulation ensures both molecules are uniformly taken up, translocated and distributed rapidly in the plant. Whilst Fandango provides perfect leaf coverage, the two molecules stay together after application for complete and long-lasting leaf protection.

This complete all-round product is effective against all major wheat and barley diseases, providing the broadest spectrum of activity currently available in Ireland. It offers outstanding performance against the whole stem base disease complex, foliar and ear diseases.

The combination of physiological and fungicidal effects in Fandango can help plants to overcome root diseases such as Take-All (Gaeumannomyces graminis).

Fandango offers unsurpassed performance in a single application on barley. Its disease control spectrum includes Eyespot, powdery mildew and brown rust. Rapidly developing diseases such as Rhynchosporium and Net Blotch are easily controlled due to the leaf systemicity and long lasting activity of Fandango. Fandango treated barley is able to withstand the increasingly problematic PLS (physiological leaf spots) and Ramularia collo cyngi - building up to highest yield potential.

Dr. Cormac O'Reilly, Commercial Manager for Bayer CropScience in Ireland, described the new product introductions as an extremely timely and major opportunity for Irish wheat and barley growers. "Yields are determined early. The introduction of this new range in Spring-time, provides Irish cereal growers with powerful broad-spectrum resistance management tools; which will maximise crop protection and yield potential."
