  New Fungicides from Bayer CropScience

Bayer CropScience is delighted to confirm that following a review of the new data generated by BCS, the ACP have recommended UK Approval for Prothioconazole (coded JAU) and are also making a positive recommendation that Prothioconazole is considered for Annex 1 listing in the EU registration process.

Fluoxastrobin (coded HEC) received UK registration early this year, and will only be sold in combination with prothioconazole.

Subject to approval being received from PCS(Pesticide Control Service) Bayer CropScience plan to market these exciting new fungicide products in Ireland in Spring 2005.

Products based on the two active ingredients have been developed to simplify approaches to disease control problems currently concerning farmers.

Prothioconazole offers the grower a number of key benefits which ensure ultimate yield security at a time where this is more important than ever. It belongs to a new class of azoles called triazolinthiones, which bring new levels of activity and spectrum of disease control.

Fluoxastrobin is a new leaf systemic strobilurin, which apart from non disease yield-boosting activity, sets new standards in broad spectrum wheat and barley disease control including; Take-all, Microdochium, sharp eyespot, rusts, Septoria nodorum, Rynchosporium, net blotch plus some activity on true Fusaria.

The mixture with prothioconazole is a particularly effective resistance management strategy for barley, since both products have similar disease profiles and unlike other mixtures, move together inside the leaf to protect each other.
